National Seminar on
“TRENDS IN WELDING TECHNOLOGY AND NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING METHODS” -COIMBATORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Organised by Department of mechanical engineering
Coimbatore institute of technology
Coimbatore-641014 , Tamil Nadu
Date of Function: September 20 - 21, 2013
ABOUT THE SEMINAR:
Welding is one of the oldest materials processing technologies, but still an ever green technology, which has evolved day by day. The modern industrial scenario has proven that welding is inevitable to produce any product. Starting from space crafts, automobiles, mobile phones and even a small pen drive uses any one of the welding or its allied processes. The main aim of the seminar is to introduce this technology and provide an in-depth knowledge about the trends in the field of welding technology. Every welding technique has its own shortcomings in the form of various defects. Investigating these defects using Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods have taken an edge over the destructive testing methods. It becomes inevitable to separate the welding technology and NDT because they go hand in hand to provide a defect free world. Therefore the seminar also concentrated on various methods, applications, techniques and implementation issues related NDT techniques.
RESOURCE PERSONS:
Specialists in the field of Welding Technology and NDT methods from various Industries like WRI, BHEL and IGCAR; Academic Institutions like IIT, NIT, PSG and CIT will deliver the lectures. A special session namely “Scholar Session” is arranged for young researchers in the field of Welding and NDT to showcase their findings and contributions to the technology.
