Most of ppl will wont remember when they install OS for their machine!
to know it!

1.Open Command prompt
Start->run->cmd
2.Type
Code:
systeminfo

3.Some time will it takes to calculate it
and now your system info will be displayed

Awesome.. Cool.. my OS install date is : 6/8/2012.. +2 repute added.. and for Win Xp :
Type this in RUN: CMD /K WMIC OS GET InstallDate
