Why single phase induction motor is not self starting and how three phase induction motor is said to be self starting?

I Hope you are confused..., three phase induction motor is a self starting and single phase induction motor is not a self starting motor since it has no starting torque.. At starting of the motor (i.e When slip = 1) the resultant torque is 0, so various starting methods are employed to start the single phase motor such as Capacitor start , Capacitor run ..etc..
