DESCRIPTION
Dhanak 2013 is the Annual Cultural Festival of Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Valiyamala, Thiruvananthapuram, to be held on 20-23 September 2013.
Now entering its fifth successful year, Dhanak 2013 features features Fantasia as its overarching theme. The fest will be inaugurated over by Academy Award winning sound designer Resul Pookutty.
Our fest will have among its main attractions the second edition of IIST Model United Nations with two councils: the UN General Assembly and the Ministry of Magic from the J K Rowling's Potterverse.
The Dhanak 2013 Pronite, after hosting names like Faridkot, Kaash and Demonic Resurrection, is set to feature the international Danish techcore band Cold Night for Alligators, playing for the first time in India.
Dhanak's flagship Battle of the Bands event is calling bands from all over the country to stake their claim to become the best college band, with prize money unrivalled in South India and a chance to open for Cold Night for Alligators.
Events include Mime, Solo and Group Singing, Solo and Group Dance and Literary and Quizzing Events. Also included are our online filmmaking and photography events which commence in the first week of September.

Dhanak 2013 is open to all Indian undergraduate students with a valid college ID card. Most events do not have a registration fee.
Accommodation is available for all participants on a first-come-first-serve basis.
IIST Model United Nations, now in its second edition, featuring the UN General Assembly with agendas on political asylum and Millennium Development Goals, invites seasoned MUN'ers and debaters from all over the country.
The Ministry of Magic set in the post Wizarding War era of J K Rowling's Harry Potter universe is all set to make its debut in this edition of IIST MUN under the Ministership of Kingsley Shacklebolt. Potterheads, old and new, are welcome.
Battle of the Bands, now in its fifth edition, featuring competing bands from all over India holds a special place in the heart of many bands as the starting point of their careers. Come join the list and win a chance to open for Cold Night for Alligators, the international Danish techcore band.
Our events include Awaaz, the Solo Singing Event, with English, Hindi and Malayalam, and the Mime and Dancing Competitions.
Dhanak 2013 also features its Quizzing Arena with a General Quiz, M.E.L.A. Quiz, Travel and Business Quiz and Sports Quiz. Literary Events include JAM and the Titan Deliberation, our celebrated debate event.
