Chinese scientists have chosen a place to build a huge solar telescope, is in the process of development. This ground gelioteleskop diameter of 8 meters, is expected to take a leading place in the world for the next 20-year solar-sensing. Initiator program to develop large solar telescope, the head of the observation base in Huairou district of Beijing City, State Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chief Engineer Dan Yuanyun in interview to the Chinese news agency Xinhua said that at present the Chinese experts in the study of the solar system has already begun to implement a plan for the selection of sites for the construction of large solar telescope in the western regions of China. It is expected that over the next 4 years approximately in western China, where there are the best astronomical and meteorological conditions will be chosen for the construction of the telescope, as well as to set up the next generation to monitor the sun. According to him, data from the telescope, will further determine the causes of solar activity and provide new methods and important study for the prediction of space "weather." Location of this telescope will be selected in one of the areas of Sichuan province (Southwest China) and Yunnan (South China) and the Tibet Autonomous Region (South-West China.)
